On behalf of the people of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, welcome to Boston, and to the Thirteenth Annual Boston International Film Festival.

There’s no better setting to celebrate than here in Massachusetts, home to centuries of a rich and diverse artistic culture. The Boston International Film Festival celebrates those artists who, through the power of cinema, capture our imagination to make us laugh and cry, think and change.

As you enjoy and visit with us this week, we encourage you to take in all that the Commonwealth has to offer and to everyone who makes The Boston International Film Festival possible, Congratulations.

On behalf of the City of Boston, I am honored and excited to welcome back the Annual Boston International Film Festival. This exciting yearly gathering adds distinct cultural value to our community.

Our City has a keen and distinct appreciation for the arts, especially film-making, as demonstrated by numerous cinematic outlets, and strong university programs. We are also extremely proud of our rich diversity and I am confident that this yea’s festival will be met with great interest and enthusiasm.
