A MAN OF THE PEOPLE

This was a hidden history yet had indeed happened. During the Cultural Revolution, Deng Xiaoping, , former Chinese leader , was dismissed and demoted to Jiangxi Province for re-education through labor. Workers in the factory built a shortcut path specifically for his safety considerations. For three years and four months, he walked to the factory for work regardless of the weather, went deeply to grassroots and perceived the suffering together with the ordinary people, and kept thinking about China’s future and destiny. The path has been called “the path of Deng Xiaoping” by the future generation. The film wasn’t about a great politician. Instead, it showed an ordinary but excellent father who supported his family with optimism and patience in his hardest time of life. He observed and thought calmly in that volatile period, eventually finding the light at the end of the dark time.
