MANGOK (28min)
Mangok Bol's story is uniquely dramatic, tragic, and uplifting -- it's about the search for his four orphaned niece and nephews who were kidnapped in a raid on their village in South Sudan, and the community of Americans that has rallied around Mangok in the Boston area, where he lives, to help find them and bring them to America so he can raise them. As Mangok prepares to reunite with the children in the US, he continues his search for the fourth missing niece who was 8 when she was kidnapped a decade ago. The film is about Mangok's resilience, his family's incredible strength and courage, and the positive impact of refugee resettlement.
The community that supported Mangok's family resettlement demonstrates how we can all have a positive impact and inspire others to take meaningful action in support of human rights. As we face potentially significant curtailment of Refugee resettlement here in the US, Mangok's story- and the story of the community around him - is more important than ever.
